A healthy level of OCD

December 3, 2007 Jordana

This morning, we overslept because the alarm did not go off at 6:00 as usual. It turned out that this was because the Squid had been playing with it and had managed to reset the alarm for 8:00 (a choice I heartily approve, I must admit).

As the Husbandlet and I were rushing around trying to get him out the door as quickly as possible, the following conversation took place.

Me: Sorry about the oversleeping thing.
Him: That’s OK. Didn’t you check the alarm last night?
Me: Yes, but I only checked to make sure it was turned on. I hadn’t changed the time lately.
Him: When I was in charge of the alarm [NB: This would be before we got married], I checked the time every night.
Me: Just in case a two-year-old came along and changed the time on you?
Him: See? There was a reason for all those years of obsession.

It is obviously a rule that Jordanas must be in charge of alarm clocks.

My small ones have done the same thing before — always at the most inconvenient times.
